Tea Party Pace Car

Tea Party Pace Car -- TeaPartyPaceCar.com:
The Tea Party Pace Car leads the field in the race to restore Essential Liberty as enshrined in our nation's founding documents, the Declaration of Independence and our Constitution.

The TPPC is among the last of the Dodge Vipers in production, a very rare color combination chosen to promote the Gadsden Flag. The Gadsden was the banner of the Sons of Liberty at the dawn of the American Revolution, and the first flag adopted by the United States Marine Corps in 1775 at the recommendation of Continental Colonel Christopher Gadsden. It was revived in recent years as the banner of the Tea Party movement to restore American Liberty.

BMW sued for giving customer a persistent, lasting erection

BMW motorcycles (© Nick Laing/Getty Imaging)

BMW is being sued after a customer found his BMW motorcycle gave him a persistent, lasting erection. No, not because it morphed into a sexy woman like that one Fiat ad, but because its custom "ridge-like" Corbin-Pacific seat, on which he sat for a total of four hours, gave him priapism (medical talk for a persistent, lasting erection) which he further claims has made him unable to engage in sexual activity TO THIS DAY. Whaaaat? A minute ago we were writing this seat down on our personal shopping wish list; now we are discreetly crossing it off. If BMW is found liable, they will owe him money for lost wages, personal injury, medical expenses, product liability and negligent infliction of emotional distress.

Rally Argentina 2012

MotoGP: Spaniard Marcos Ramirez Fastest

Marcos Ramirez, the 14 year old Spaniard, snatched pole position for Saturday's first race in the 2012 Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup from British 14 year old Bradley Ray with the last lap of qualifying. Along with them on the front row is Diego Perez, another 14 year old from Spain.

Looks like a few Spaniards are moving to be potential future prospects in the next couple years.

Heading the second row is yet another debuting Rookie, Karel Hanika, the Czech 16 year old edging out British 125 Champion Kyle Ryde. The 14 year old Briton tops a list of returning Rookies with Portuguese 15 year old Ivo lopes completing row 2.

Ramirez admitted his surprise at setting pole time. "Sure I didn't expect that," he said, fending of the congratulations of a gang of well wishers. "I was riding hard but I didn't think I would get pole. Towards the end the tyres were really worn and the rear was sliding around a lot. Also my bike setting is not quite right, the front is running wide through the fast corners so we will think about changing something for the race."

Sounds and Smells

A slight pop.
A sudden mild vibration.
The smell of grease burning.

Sounds like I have a date with a CV joint replacement on the Land Rover...

That 60MPH Bicyclist Video Was a Viral

Remember Tuesday's video of the bicyclist being chased by a police car as fast as 60MPH? Even while it is possible to do in real life, this video wasn't real. It was a viral for a new Czech video site. This is how it was done. More »

Real or not, I'm not even slightly interested in doing those sort of speeds on a bicycle. I've never done more than about 20, and the number of accidents at low speed have been more than enough, thanks. I'll pass...

Avengers' Acura MDX Gets 234 MPG

According to the accurate-looking window sticker, this 2012 Acura MDX with special tactical packages for S.H.I.E.L.D. gets an impressive 234 MPG city/304 MPG highway mileage, though this is running on Palladium. It's a fuel which, apparently, costs a daunting $448/oz. But that's actually cheap. Because the car itself costs just under $6 million. More »

Reminds me of the Range Rover from Torchwood...

Fisker Reveals Its Atlantic Plug-In Hybrid

Fisker Atlantic concept

Fisker has revealed the plug-in hybrid Atlantic, the vehicle that is supposed to be its mainstream entry into the automotive world. The debut coinciding with the New York auto show couldn't be better timed: The company just disclosed that it has raised $339 million to put the project—previously "on hold" because of funding woes—back on track. At least the badge finally gives the company's "Project Nina" codename a little context, since Nina was one of Columbus's ships to cross the Atlantic.

Jeep FC Forward Control: First Drive

FIRST DRIVE-  I am finishing this article less than two hours after driving the Forward Control concept vehicle from the Jeep design team. We will add more images and detail in the coming days, but I wanted to give those interested an initial drive review.

The F-C is another important project for the Jeep design team as it continues to push and reinforce the brand emphasis on utility and brand heritage. While other US brands have bloated and softened their product lines at nearly the same rate as American waistlines, Jeep has actually become more capable and more purposeful (no, I will not use the word authenticity, which now has as much meaning as synergy or excellence. . . puke). The point here is that Jeep's design team gets it - and not just at the level of enthusiasts, but even beyond that by making concepts that even the enthusiasts get all giddy about. This is an important distinction. Mark Allen and his team do not have focus groups or customer 'needs' pow wows, they are thinking of extremely cool vehicles that even the most die-hard Jeep enthusiast hasn't dreamed up. Now understandably, vehicles like the NuKaiser and the F-C will never go into production, but real, breathing and desirable vehicles will be constructed from the DNA of these lustful objects.

There is also another critical result from these concept vehicles - they actually work. They are not just some clay, plastic and chicken wire rendition that needs to be viewed from 30 feet, these Jeeps actually run, drive and 'wheel' like a fourwheeler's best daydream. It is shocking to me, but Jeep unleashes the media on these trucks, and based on what we can see, only 1 out of 10 of these people know a locker switch from a seat heater switch. Within a few minutes of arriving at our play area, I had jumped in several new concepts, but saved the F-C for last, most importantly so I could have a little more time. Ever patient, one of the Jeep design team members hopped into the seat next to me and said "I know you Scott - lets have some fun with it"; and off we went, trundling down the trail barely able to see because I was laughing and smiling so much. 30 seconds in and I had declared the F-C to be Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, a fanciful combination of 'Tonka truck fantasy' and 'I cannot believe they are letting me drive this'.
