Mama Mia! Novitec Supercharges Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale

Beautiful. But not the right color...

German tuning company Novitec has slapped a snarling supercharger onto the Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale. The result is a 646-bhp take on the Italian grand touring car, which, in standard MC Stradale format, is already a rapid performance machine. Someone at Novitec didn't agree. The 0-60 mph time drops from approximately 4.5 for the stock Stradale – which isn't sold in the U.S. – to 3.9 seconds in the supercharged Novitec variant.

In our road test of the 2012 GranTurismo MC, the top performance model sold stateside, we said the car had "the feel of a machine perfect for the gentleman racer, with the emphasis on gentleman." The 444-bhp 4.7-liter V-8 engine, 6-speed Autoshift transmission, and more aggressive exterior made the car worth its $143,850 asking price. The Novitec equipment, which includes sport exhaust, lowered suspension, and staggered alloy wheels (21 inches front, 22 inches rear) sets you back an additional $31,900.

That pits the car against heady competition, such as the Aston Martin V12 Vantage, Porsche 911 Turbo S, and Audi R8 5.2-liter FSI Quattro.
