Roland Sands Designs Triumph Scrambler For Charity Auction

I like some of Sands' bikes, but this one doesn't even compare to Hammarhead's Jack Pine.

Roland Sands Designs is customizing a Triumph Scrambler and a Triumph Thruxton to raise money for the Tony Hawk Foundation.

The custom Triumph Scrambler, pictured in the rendering above, and the Thruxton will be sold at the Tony Hawk Foundation's "Stand Up for Skateparks" gala auction Oct. 2 in Beverly Hills, Calif. Funds raised will help build public skateparks in low-income communities.

Other items available for auction include skateboards autographed by Tony Hawk and other professional boarders and guitars autographed by musical acts such as Pearl Jam, Green Day and Taylor Swift.

2014 Toyota Supra: We wish this was it [Toyota Supra]

Hemmings Find of the Day – 1963 Studebaker Avanti R2

Admittedly, we've run quite a few Studebakers and, in particular, Avantis as Hemmings Finds of the Day. It's hard not to when we see cars like this 1963 Studebaker Avanti R2 – reportedly the first Avanti sold to the public – come through the system. Even if it didn't have such provenance, it's still one heck of a finely restored supercharged and fiberglass-bodied independent. From the seller's description:

This Avanti R2 coupe is # R1004, an interesting collector car. It is one that has been reported as the first Avanti Sold to the public. This R2 equipped with the Studebaker 289 cid Paxton supercharged V-8 with Carter AFB carburetor, high-lift cam, dual point distributor, clutched cooling fan, high compression heads and dual exhausts… This Avanti has automatic transmission with 455 rear end gearing which performed amazingly. During body-off restoration, it was determined the car was originally produced with the 455 rear end. There are other unique features on this Special Avanti; the taillights are early production prototypes. Avanti has been a good deal in the collector-car hobby for decades. Avanti has head-turning styling and was loaded with some very notable advancement in body construction, brake technology front disc brakes, safety features built in roll bar, and more.
