Italian Quake Halts Ducati Production

Italian Quake Halts Ducati Production
A major earthquake rocked the Emilia Romagna region of Italy at 9 a.m. with multiple aftershocks in the afternoon, forcing the temporary closure of Ducati Motorcycles. MotoUSA contacts inform that the Bologna factory has shut down production in order to evaluate any potential damage. Fortunately, there were no deaths at the Italian motorcycle company as a result of the 5.8-magnitude quake. However, various news reports indicate an overall death toll of at least 15 and climbing in the region as rescue and recovery efforts continue.

Ducati also updated its Twitter account with this post: "Ducati today is closed due to the earthquake. People are ok, we are verifing the factory."

It is the second large earthquake for Italy this month, the first occurring on May 20. The incident has also put a stop to some of Italy's automotive industry as well with Ferrari, Maserati and Lamborghini shutting down operations.
